Time to shell-ebrate, the wait is finally over for fans of the famous ‘Bluffies’.

While the Bluff oyster season officially opened on March 1, Queenstown restaurants have had to wait for their fix, due to poor weather in Foveaux Strait.

Republic Hospitality Group’s Soda took delivery of their first order of the season yesterday.

Its project manager Tom O’Halloran (pictured) says he’s expecting high demand for the delicacy — and word on the street is the quality this year’s looking great.

Raw Bluffies at Soda are going for $36 for half-a-dozen between 4pm and 6pm, and $45 for the same after 6pm.

Pier’s selling 12 for $80, while Captain’s Steak & Seafood’s got a dozen on for $72 — Erik’s Fish and Chips are selling them at $4.30 per oyster, with the option to have them fresh or fried.

The season runs till August.
