Well-known Kiwi wine commentator and reviewer Yvonne Lorkin (pictured) is teaming up with a top South Australian winery — and a ‘king
of dad jokes’ — for a wine & dine event in Queenstown on Monday week, November 27.
Queenstown’s the first stop on a South Island roadshow featuring mainly shiraz and cabernet from Brockenchack Wines, a single-vineyard producer located high in the famed Barossa region.
This year it scooped ‘best Australian shiraz’ at the prestigious International Wine Challenge.
‘‘Pinot noir is great and all, and everybody knows Central Otago is basically dux of the school in that regard, but there’s nothing quite like a gorgeously-grunty, ripe and rumpty shiraz or cabernet to really get the blood pumping,’’ Lorkin says.
Her co-host will be Darren Naylor, who’s flying over from the vineyard to add some humour to proceedings.
Limited to just 24 tickets, the event — comprising at least five tastings and a three-course dinner — is being held at The Garnet Room on Frankton’s Glenda Dr.
