Sharpening their acting claws: The Christmas Show cast include, back row, left, Arka Huck (Murray the Mouse) and Kane Viggers (Muffin the Cat) and, front row, Tatum Hookey and Maddison Hearn (bunnies Jeepers and Creepers)

Tickets are on sale for another spectacular Queenstown Christmas Show featuring promising young singing, acting and dancing stars — and a heartwarming tale about a mouse.

Running for two shows on Sunday, December 10, Not a Creature Was Stirring, Not Even a Mouse, written by local singing teacher and
impresario Margaret O’Hanlon, centres around Murray the Mouse, who’s troubled because Santa never brings any gifts for mice.

The family cat and dog encourage him to visit Santa at the North Pole.

A host of adorable characters help him navigate the way and realise it’s not what you receive but what you give that’s the meaning of Christmas.

Murray’s played by St Joseph’s School student Arka Huck, 9, who was in the ensemble for last year’s show and is in the school’s kapa
haka group.

Year 13 Wakatipu High student Kane Viggers, 17, a keen computer coder, plays Muffin the Cat, and Bethany Graf, 17, who recently won a distinction in emerging talent award at the National Theatre Awards, plays Molly the Dog.

The show, again featuring choreography by Anna Stuart and a mix of popular songs and carols, also includes performances by Queenstown Gymnastics Club, Silk & Circus, Wakatipu Conservatoire of Classical Ballet, Dance Evolution Studio and the remarkable Remarkable Men’s Ballet.

Tickets can be bought at christmasshow.co.nz or via Humanitix; $10 adults, $5 children aged 5-16, free under-5s.

Ticket-buyers can also gift a ticket to enable families to attend who otherwise couldn’t afford to — last year those donations went to
Queenstown’s Salvation Army, Big Buddy and Happiness House and Wānaka’s Community Networks.

There’s also an opportunity to donate towards play toys for the Salvation Army’s community and social wellbeing hub, opening this weekend.

The council-sponsored December 10 shows are on at 1pm and 5pm at the Queenstown Events Centre.
