Nineteen Wakatipu High students are pictured after receiving either tertiary education scholarships from Central Lakes Trust or Pioneer Energy science and technology scholarships at a special presentation in Cromwell last Tuesday.

The scholarships, each valued at $2500, aim to help students with their education after high school — selection criteria include the applicants’ academic records, all-round qualities and achievements.

WHS CLT scholarship recipients are Cole Bramwell, Jasper Cusiel, Paige Cusiel, Samuel Davis, Keely Erskine, Jett Fa’amalepe, Megan McCulloch, Oliver Pope, Olive Ritchie, Rachel Scobie, James Scoles, Ella St John, Sophie Thompson, Esther Vile, Jacob Wilkinson and Minna Zhu.

Recipients of the PEL science and tech scholarships are Jacob Marriott, Harry McVicar and Annabella Middleton.

CLT deputy chair Kathy Dedo says in the 16 years the programme’s been running, the trust has helped 634 rangatahi across the region, to a total value of $1,551,500.

‘‘Each and every one of them should be applauded for their efforts; they have done exceptionally well.’’
