A fundraising ball in Queenstown last Saturday night boosted the Cancer Society’s coffers by almost $80,000.

More than 200 people turned out for the Naylor Love, Hugo Charitable Trust Cancer Society Ball, held at the Millennium Hotel.

It raised a total of $78,185 for cancer support initiatives — every dollar will go towards helping individuals and families affected by cancer, providing them with assistance and support during their journey.

Cancer Society Canterbury-West Coast Otago/Southland chief executive Nicola Coom is pictured with MC and magician Jonathan Usher on the night.

Marketing and fundraising manager Jonet Warhurst says they’re ‘‘so grateful’’ to the sponsors and guests.

‘‘It was heartwarming to witness the incredible generosity of our community.

‘‘Everyone had a fantastic time and, together, we achieved something remarkable by raising funds to support people with cancer.’’
