Get your fix in Arrowtown

The ‘Repair Revolution’ comes to Arrowtown for the first time tomorrow.

Last run in Queenstown two weeks ago, the event — being held at the Arrowtown Community Centre from 10am till 2pm — involves volunteer ‘fixers’ fixing, for free, broken-down household items brought in by members of the public.

These can be items of clothing, furniture, electronics, toys and much more.

The initiative, by Sustainable Queenstown and Wānaka Waste busters, and funded by the local council, is designed to give these items another lease of life, rather than being chucked in the bin.

Neha Gosalia, who runs the local events, says the idea is people pick up skills from the fixers while their items are being repaired.

There’ll also be a trailer on hand filled with various bits and bobs like zips, glues and fabrics.

Gosalia says people are also welcome to try out spare sewing machines, drills and other tools.
