A fundraising auction in Queenstown this weekend is being opened up to all-comers online.
The sold-out second annual Awards & Gala for Women’s Refuge Services, including the Inspirational Women Awards, being held this Saturday at Rydges Lakeland Resort, celebrates Otago’s female leaders and change-makers, while raising awareness of domestic
violence.
Proceeds go to Women’s Refuges of Otago and Central Lakes Family Services — the goal’s to raise enough money to provide a safe house in Queenstown.
Event organiser Julia Strelou (pictured) says the event will include speakers and a live and silent auction.
Items under the hammer include a cricket ball signed by Aussie cricketers Shane Gilchrist and Phil Emery and former Kiwi cricketer Bruce
Edgar, and a New Zealand Open flag, signed by 2023 winner Brendan Jones.
The auction opens at 6pm tonight, via galabid.com/iwa23, and closes at 10.30pm tomorrow.
