Te Kura o Tititea (Mount Aspiring College) student Ryan Enoka, 15, is pictured on stage at the Queenstown Events Centre yesterday during the first day of Mīharo’s Central Lakes Polyfest 2022.

It’s the first time the event — which started in 2018 — has been held since Covid, and the first time it’s been staged at the Events Centre, where more than 2000 school kids from across the region are performing over two days.

Today the majority of the Whakatipu schools will perform between 10.30am and 1pm, including Queenstown Primary School, Te Kura o Kāmuriwai (Arrowtown School), and Te Kura Taumata Rau o Te Kirikiri (Remarkables Primary) and Wakatipu High School.

The event’s been funded by Creative NZ, Community Trust South, Central Lakes Trust, Queenstown’s council and Te Puni Kōkiri.
