It was a double celebration last Saturday, as both Queenstown Parkrun and local parkrunner Wendy Hawkes pulled up their 250th.

The Arrowtowner — pictured during her milestone run — started her 5km Parkruns in Auckland about eight years ago, where she did just under 100.

Hawkes — who is in the 45-50 age category — says she loves Parkrun because it’s fun, social, and there’s always a coffee at Yonder afterwards — ‘‘and if you happen to run a fast one, that’s a bonus’’.

She’s also happy running in all weathers, ‘‘because you’re done by 8.30, you’ve done your exercise then you’ve got the rest of the day’’.

‘‘We’ve done it here when it snowed which was awesome.’’

To celebrate her milestone, which equates to 1250km, she’s also being given a special T-shirt.
