Spoils of victory: Local Bayleys bosses Stacy Coburn, left, and David Gubb with their national 'best small agency' award

A Queenstow-based real estate agency’s celebrating one of the best industry awards you could hope to pick up.

The local Bayleys franchise, which has offices in Frankton, Queenstown CBD and Cromwell, won the small agency award, for all disciplines, at last month’s Real Estate Institute of New Zealand ‘awards for excellence’ in Auckland.

This category was for agencies with fewer than four offices — the other finalists were from West Auckland and Hawke’s Bay — based on sales revenue between April ’21 and March ’22.

‘‘It’s pretty humbling to get an award on a national scale when you’re against pretty strong opposition and also very good operators,’’ group operations manager Stacy Coburn says.

He and managing director David Gubb attribute the success less to market conditions than to the quality of their 35-agent team.

Specifically, Coburn says, ‘‘the way they work, the way they follow processes — we’ve got a pretty good system in place — and, I guess, the owners/managers driving the team’’.

What’s pleasing, the pair say, is how the team coped with Covid disruptions.

At the recent Bayleys awards, of 105 offices and about 2000 agents, the local franchise also won the top auction award for the second year running.
