Two out-of-town architectural designers have won regional awards for spectacular Queenstown designs.

At the recent Otago/Southland ADNZ Resene Architectural Design Awards, Invercargill-based Ant Jackson’s Immersion Architecture won the ‘residential new home over 300sqm’ award for this Jack’s Point home (above) entitled ‘Kinross Residence’.

‘‘This dwelling incorporates simple, elegant, gable pavilions, integrated into the slope of the site, and allows each pavilion to sit above the next,’’ judges say.

They also single out ‘‘carefully-placed’’ window openings which capture views of the surrounding mountains.

Invercargill-based Matt Anderson-Stewart’s MAS Architecture won the ‘Resene colour in design award’ for a Domain Road home.

Anderson-Stewart says the client’s brief was to create a home that’s inviting and opens itself to the site and views as you move through the spaces.

The Resene judge notes ‘‘the beautiful, black exterior of this home says sophistication and prestige’’, and is ‘‘enhanced by delicate, warmed lighting’’.
