He’s gone but he won’t be forgotten.

At Queenstowner Ross Lawrence’s farewell party last Friday, the former manager of The Remarkables — for 16 years — was presented with a sign, ‘Ross Shots’, signifying a new run on the skifield’s been named in his honour.

Appropriately, it comes off the top of the new six-seater Shadow Basin chairlift that’s being commissioned for the upcoming ski season.

‘‘It’s a new ski trail, and we thought because Ross has done so much for The Remarkables, and so much for this particular project also, it would be nice to have his name left on the mountain,’’ NZSki chief executive Paul Anderson says.

‘‘It’s a bit of a nod to Ross’ mischievousness.’’
