Year 8 students at Queenstown’s Shotover Primary undertook a symbolic trip down the Shotover River recently to mark their final day at the
school.

The students — mostly part of the school’s first Year 1 intake in 2015 — walked up beside some of the river on December 16, then, after a bus pick-up, were shouted a jetboat trip by Shotover Jet from Arthurs Point to Tucker Beach.

They then rafted with RealNZ down to the Delta, by the Kawarau River, welcomed with a mihi by Wakatipu High co-deputy principal Ryan Gilbertson.

The ‘legacy day’, with support from Shotover Friends of School and Te Hau Toka Southern Lakes Wellbeing Group, symbolises the students’ learning journey at the school.
