Queenstown-based MP Joseph Mooney’s taken on another role — as proud patron of the local Citizens Advice Bureau.

He’s pictured with, from left, chair Amanda Mulqueen, manager Rachel Reece and volunteer Susan Milne.

‘‘I used to volunteer at a CAB while I was studying law, and know how invaluable the service they provide the community is, particularly for folk who need help but can’t afford it,’’ he says.

Mooney says CAB, mostly through volunteers, provides a range of advocacy services, ‘‘not least of which is immigration’’.

‘‘They’re the only organisation apart from licensed immigration agents and lawyers who can provide immigration advice — in a town like ours, that’s incredibly important.’’
