A Queenstown artist’s inviting the public to view her Lake Hayes garden sculpture and studio for the first time this weekend.

Lee van der Geest (pictured) will have about 20 outdoor sculptures for sale and another 50 or smaller pieces in her studio.

Her sculptures are created from many different mediums including driftwood, bones, vines, wire and willow.

‘‘I love finding things in the environment — I’m a bit of a forager — and then creating something out of them,’’ she says.

Schooled in Queenstown, De Geest returned to Queenstown in 2001 and has lived just 300 metres from Lake Hayes for almost 20 years.

Having been tour guiding prior to Covid, she then did ‘‘my pivot’’ and has since concentrated on sculpture, painting and running workshops.

Her open weekend, at 48 Rutherford Rd, runs 10am till 4pm on tomorrow and Sunday.
