Queenstown’s new Salvation Army hub, at Remarkables Park, is on track to be finished next August.

Queenstown’s corps officers and community ministries directors Andrew and Ruth Wilson reckon the $9.4 million build, which started this August, is on track financially, too.

‘‘It’s tracking nicely … being on budget and on schedule isn’t something you hear a lot of,’’ Andrew says.

The Pin Oak Drive site will be home to a family store facing the street, a workshop and meeting room, and a 150-seat auditorium where Salvation Army will hold its services.

It will also offer space for other community groups to provide aid and hold events — there’s already interest from regional organisations hoping to make use of the space.

Andrew says seeing the progress is a ‘‘dream’’, while Ruth, whose family’s been involved with the Sallies since the 1900s, says they’re
planning a ‘‘big party’’ to open the hub next year.
