Queenstown Trails Trust’s this week rolled out its latest fundraising appeal with its new-look ‘Trail Lovers’ campaign.

Replacing the organisation’s Friends of the Trust appeal, it’s aimed at connecting with and garnering support from all trail users, be they locals or visitors.

‘‘Whether walkers, runners or bikers, we’re asking everyone that loves the trails to join us and help support our mission to further grow and enhance our incredible trail network,’’ trust CEO Mark ‘Willy’ Williams says.

‘‘This is a great opportunity for the community to show the trails some love.

‘‘We have big plans, and with every dollar donated going directly back into trail expansion and improvement, the more funds raised the more we can do.’’

Williams says they’re continuing to broaden the type of trails being developed, from offering more access to the backcountry to providing trails close to home for everyone.

Plans underway include trails from Arthurs Point to Arrowtown, Arthurs Point to Tucker Beach and Lake Hayes to Gibbston.

In the pipeline are an extension to the 12 Mile trail, the proposed Kimiākau Bridge over the Shotover and trail infrastructure projects, like shelter, water stops and toilets.
