With six Lilliput Libraries about to be installed for Queenstown’s non-English-speaking migrant communities, a community celebration’s being held tomorrow at Frankton’s Mitre 10 Mega.
The project’s a joint initiative between Arrowtown’s Menzshed, whose members built the mini-book exchange libraries, Mitre 10 Mega, which donated the materials, Catalyst Trust and Frankton Library, outside of which the libraries will be installed.
The ‘building & painting day’ — running from 11am till 2pm — will feature local multicultural artists beginning to paint the libraries.
Kids will also be able to paint a community mural, while there’ll be a BBQ run by the Japanese Family Society, free popcorn and other giveaways and story time, including an appearance by Marlow the reading dog between 11am and 12.30pm.
