Queenstown’s Latin community’s pulling out all the stops this weekend.

The second annual Latin Kiwi Integration Fest, again being held at the Queenstown Memorial Centre tomorrow, aims to celebrate the unity and vibrancy of the Latin culture.

Organiser Carol Morgan, Latinos for New Zealand founder, (pictured) says last year’s organising committee was two people, and 1000 people turned up.

‘‘This year, we have 15 people on the organising team to ensure the festival is bigger and better than ever.’’

Brazilian dancers are heading south from Auckland for the event, which will also include live music, food and artisan stalls, a kids’ zone and
workshops.

The latter will be held on the hour, from 1pm, in capoeria, an Afro-Brazilian martial art and game which includes elements of acrobatics, dance, music and spirituality, Afro dance, Samba Passion, hip hop and salsa/bachata.

For those who’d rather watch the action than participate in it, there’ll be a range of performances from 6pm, including English and Spanish
guitar, pole dancing, tango dancing, music from Criminales, Latin singer Dani PR and DJ A5.

The event, which is free to attend, runs from noon till 10pm — cash is required for food and drinks.
