One of Queenstown’s last farms is on the market for the first time in almost a century.

Morven Ferry Road’s Doonholme Farm, held in seven titles which cover more than 213 hectares, is being marketed for sale by Bayleys by international tender.

Rating information shows one of the seven titles alone has a land value of $3.17 million, and a capital value of $4.5m.

Bayleys’ information memorandum says it’ll appeal to the ‘‘ultra-high net worth’’ set.

The property was bought in the 1930s for £300 by Jack Hamilton, and was then passed on to his son, Alan ‘Hammy’ Hamilton, who died last June, aged 91.

Over the years, the farm’s use evolved from crops and dairy cows to deer and even tourism, and was visited by dignitaries.

Part of the Queenstown Trail extends through the rear of the property, while the historical Arrow Irrigation Scheme runs through it — the property’s a shareholder of the scheme — and there’s an historical clay bird shooting range on the land.

The information memorandum says the farm boasts 360-degree views of the Whakatipu Basin, and has wide prospective uses, including potential residential development.

Tenders close 4pm, Friday, March 31.
