‘Don’t wait till after Christmas to sell’

Harcourts Queenstown’s branch manager is challenging the preconception you shouldn’t list your home in the hectic build-up to Christmas.

If you do, Priscilla Uhrle suggests, you’ll in fact capture interest particularly from out-of-towners keen to start the new year by moving to Central Otago.

She says an example came when local Harcourts agents Jason Drewett and Lydia Bertram prepared a property at Lake Hayes Estate’s Ada Place for sale last December before launching it on the 29th of that month.

As one of the few properties being proactively marketed at the time, it attracted 50-plus buyer groups to open homes and nine private viewings.

On deadline, the agents received four offers and it sold unconditionally for $165,000 over CV with the new owners moving in just days later.

‘‘Why wait until after Christmas to start the process and miss capturing all this gold?’’ Uhrle says.
