Mountain Scene’s welcomed reporter Matt Porter (pictured) on a fixed-term, four-month contract.
Porter, who hails from Christchurch, has extensive experience as a journalist — a graduate of Aoraki Polytechnic, he’s previously worked for the Marlborough Express, as web editor for the official website and media service intranet site of the 2003 and ’07 Rugby World Cups in Australia and Paris, respectively, and has variously been editor of Sydney’s Yaffa Media, associate publisher of Yaffa Publishing, and founding director of Yaffa Custom Content.
He’s also worked in media and comms for M&C Saatchi agency and as comms manager for the New South Wales planning and environment department.
A former NPC rugby player for South Canterbury and Marlborough and the NZ Divisional XV (now Heartland Rugby XV), Porter’s got a keen interest in sports, is a fan of the odd beer, and is fizzing to get his finger on the pulse of Queenstown’s community.
