Police have released the name of the woman who died in a crash on the Kingston-Garston Highway on August 22.
She was Hayley Shannon Purcell, ofKingston.
The day of the crash was her 34th birthday.
A police investigation into the incident is ongoing.
Mountain Scene understands Purcell had been returning from Dunedin when the crash occurred.
Emergency services responded to the incident, just south of Kingston, about 4.30am.
She had been living in Arrowtown before shifting to the township a few months ago.
Originally from Hamilton, Purcell attended Hamilton Girls’ High School before moving to Auckland.
She relocated to Queenstown earlier this year.
A passionate animal lover and human rights advocate, Purcell was a member of Greenpeace and also an accomplished dancer.
A funeral for Purcell was held at the Lake Hayes Pavilion on August 30.
