Having finally got its ducks in a row, Queenstown Rotary Club’s reviving its charity ‘great duck race’ this afternoon along Horne Creek.

Raising money for the Lakes District Air Rescue Trust, it features two duck races starting at the Village Green and finishing where the creek runs into Queenstown Bay.

One race is for up to about 45 corporate ducks, for which businesses have been been billed $249 a pop, and the other’s for 20-plus smaller public ducks, which will be on sale today for $20 each.

Raffle tickets will also be on sale.

There’ll be over $4000 worth of prizes up for grabs, not just for top-placed ducks but also for the best-decorated duck along with kids’ prizes.

Organiser Tim Wilshire’s hoping the races raise between $7000 and $10,000 for the air rescue trust.

Racing starts 3pm with prize giving at Brazz about 3.45pm.
