More than 150 Christmas presents were distributed to needy people in the Whakatipu this week thanks to the generosity of a real estate agency.
Arrowtown’s branch of New Zealand Sotheby’s International Realty (NZSIR) collected the presents from its Southern Lakes staff, and others in the community, thanks to its Christmas tree campaign.
NZSIR Southern Lakes GM of sales Jo Eddington says the idea stemmed from talking to her Arrowtown team about how they could support the wider community at Christmas.
The Christmas tree was created by Arrowtown staff member Jill Leydon who also runs Holly & Baubles Christmas trees.
Eddington says the response has been ‘‘overwhelming, with dozens and dozens of gifts donated for kids, teenagers, mums, dads, aunties, grandads and nanas, and even pets’’.
The presents were collected on Monday by representatives from the Baskets of Blessing organisation which has distributed them throughout the Whakatipu.
