Thanks to a Queenstown gallery’s generosity, the Wakatipu High School Foundation made $1400 from an art auction last Thursday.

The lightwork’s by noted Kiwi artist Max Patte, and was auctioned by local Colliers agent Brendan Quill at the opening of Patte’s latest exhibition, ‘Te Takurua Aho, Radiant Winter Lights’, at Artbay Gallery.

Local Rebecca Jarvis success fully bid $17,000 for the work, leaving a post-reserve $1400 for the foundation.

Pictured, from left, are Wakatipu High principal Steve Hall, Artbay/Lightworx Gallery owner Pauline Bianchi, Jarvis, Quill, Jarvis’ daughter Lorenza, 13, and high school foundation trustee Karen Spires.

Spires says the foundation’s very grateful to Bianchi and her team.

‘‘It was very nice to see the piece go to a local family who will love it forever.’’

Jarvis says she bought the work for her daughter to remember her dad, Graeme, who passed away last year.
