Acclaimed San Francisco-born, Dunedin-based singer-songwriter Julian Temple plays Arrowtown’s The Fork and Tap tonight, but without his long-time eponymous band accompanying him.

He’s accompanying a tap takeover at the bar by Wānaka’s Ground Up Brewing.

“I quite like coming up that way and I’m already there for work so I’m just doubling up,” Temple says.

His band, who first started playing together while they were students at Otago University, is known for its high energy, but “I’ll actually be quite mellow”.

“But there’s always a good vibe there, Arrowtown’s great because lots of locals come out.

“I’m going to do a mix, so there’ll be some stuff spanning the 20-year career, and then I’ll be doing some brand-new stuff that’s coming out on our latest album, which is due out in October, which we just pressed to vinyl – it’s the first time we’ve done vinyl.”

Julian Temple, tonight, The Fork and Tap, Arrowtown, 8pm, free
