Snip at $95,000

Wakatipu Rowing Club patron Jim Boult snips a ribbon to open a $95,000 extension to the club’s Lake Hayes boatshed last Sunday. Boult, who lives nearby, made a major donation towards doubling the size of the boatshed.

At the same function, the 50-member club also launched new two double and two quad skiffs worth $93,000 in all. The doubles are named after Boult and the late Rex Woodbury, a club stalwart who won a New Zealand premier men’s title with John Muir in 1967, while the coxed and coxless quads take their names, Moonlight and Invincible, from a local river and a Rees Valley goldmine respectively.
