Shredders support bike club

Riders are ready to pull off their best tricks during an all-day shred to raise money for the Queenstown Mountain Bike Club.

The annual Season of Shred fundraiser will see bikers entertain the crowd at Wynyard Jump Park on Saturday in a series of jams and races.

Wesley McAllister, general manager of Atlas Beer Cafe, organisers of the event, says he’s been working hard with four staffers for the past three months to make it possible.

He’s urging guests to get involved in a new Vertigo kids jump jam, which will be followed by the usual Vertigo adults jump jam.

The King Salmon race will see competitors ride down a grade-five black diamond trail, built by QMTBC, with the winners being crowned king and queen of the Salmon Run.

Atlas will be selling local food and beer at the event, with businesses on hand to sell mountain biking equipment and merchan-dise.

Queenstown band Bad News will return to perform at the event once again after proving a hit in previous years.

The event runs from 2pm-11pm.

Tickets cost $5, with all proceeds from the event going to the QMTBC.
