Racing ahead

A Queenstown  enduro driver’s ended an exceptional season, placing second overall in
the South Island Enduro Series, and being named overall winner at the Highlands Sprint Series in Cromwell.

Brad Rule, driving a Honda Civic, says he’s ‘‘stoked’’ with how the season went.

In the four-round South Island Enduro Series, held at the end of last year at Highlands, Levels, Teretonga and Ruapuna racetracks, Rule competed in the one-hour enduro race, Class A (up to 2000cc), finishing in the top three in all but the Highlands round, due to mechanical issues.

At the Highlands Sprint Series in Cromwell, which ended at the beginning of the month, Rule competed in four rounds, comprising 16 races, winning 10 and securing the Class 3 win.

A particularly special highlight was winning the Mark Jackson Memorial Trophy as part of the final round of that series — a memorial to his friend, who died last year.

He also beat an 18-year-old lap record at Teretonga race track as part of the Southern
Thunder meet.

Along with his sponsors — which include Queenstown Roofing, Golden Homes, Barnett’s  Scaffolding and Paddon Rallysport — Rule says he’s particularly grateful to his
number one pitman and supporter, his 13-year-old son, Charlie.
