Queenstown cricket coach Emma Campbell has been selected for New Zealand Cricket’s 2022 performance coaching course.

The year-long course, starting next month, has three ‘‘away sections’’ and a lot of  online learning in between, she says.

‘‘It’s quite full-on.

‘‘I’ve sort of been hanging around that Level 2 coaching for over 10 years, so I’ve been wanting to upskill for some time.

‘‘I guess that Otago Cricket have put me forward, so I’m thankful to them.’’

A two-game former White Fern, Campbell’s coached in Queenstown for about eight years through her company, Coaching Solutions, but has also coached overseas.

She agrees the NZ Cricket course opens up potential rep-coaching opportunities, but says ‘‘it’s also going to be great for obviously the Queenstown Cricket Club and everything else I do’’.

This past season, Campbell also managed the Otago Sparks side who stunned Wellington Blaze by winning the final of the Hallyburton Johnstone Shield in Queenstown two months ago.

‘‘I got to use my coaching [a little bit], got to hit the odd catches, do some warm-ups, that was about it.’’
