A disused Queenstown tennis court has sold for just over $1 million.
The court occupies a 1012 square metre section on McBride Street close to Frankton lakeside reserve and Queenstown Airport.
It had been owned for about 35 years by Invercargill’s Trevor McLeay, who formerly owned a house next door.
Its capital value is $980,000.
Local New Zealand Sotheby’s International Realty agent Gerard Bligh, who listed the property with colleague Hadley van Schaik, says three tenders were received by the August 2 deadline.
He confirms the buyer’s a Queenstowner who wishes to remain anonymous.
The listing for the property outlined its development potential: “Build one home or multiple units, subdivide (subject to council consent) or land bank – the ball is in your court.”
