Major Kiwi acts, pop sensation Mitch James and rock/electronica band Stellar, starring Boh Runga, headline next month’s Welcome to Winter celebration in Queenstown.
James, who made it big after three years’ busking, even rough-sleeping, in Europe, plays Earnslaw Park on Friday, July 8, following a fireworks display.
The following night, Stellar — whose chart-topping debut album, Mix, dates back to 1999 — will play all their great hits.
The band, who reformed in 2017, still comprises Runga, Andrew Maclaren, Kurt Shanks
and Chris van de Geer.
The four-day Welcome to Winter event, starting July 7, is being run for a second year by Destination Queenstown and the Southern Lakes Events Investment Panel, thanks to regional events funding.
