Many happy ‘terns

Glenorchy-based Dart River Jet Safaris has pledged $5000 over the next year to help the Department of Conservation protect the endangered black-fronted tern (right).

The money from the Shotover Jet subsidiary will help fund DoC in monitoring nest productivity and eradicating predators like cats and stoats.

The Dart is normally home to about 80 breeding terns but fledgings in one colony last year were completely wiped out.
