Wheel’s third turn

Queenstown’s once-famous waterwheel’s beaten a semi-retreat from public view.

For decades it was a major, oft-climb ed attraction at the top of the Queenstown Mall.

Next, it was deposited at the edge of the Queenstown Bay waterfront, by Horne Creek, but, thanks to council’s recent Marine Parade upgrade project, it’s had to move again to make way for a new public toilet block.

It’s now languishing (pictured) in a remote corner of the Rec Ground — council spokesman Sam White says it’ll stay there ‘‘for everyone to enjoy’’.
