Round two for First Thursdays

Queenstowners can get their art crawl on again in the CBD tonight.

Based around Earl Street and Marine Parade, tonight’s ‘First Thursdays’ sees five art galleries open their doors for exhibitions and meet-the-artist opportunities.

ArtBay Gallery’s opening Jimmy James Kouratoras’ Front Room exhibition, ‘Hei Tiki Aroha’, running till August 31.

A New Zealand visual artist, Kouratoras’ strong indigenous connections and ancestral knowledge are reflected through his contemporary works.

Starkwhite Queenstown’s highlighting New Zealand painter John Reynold’s exhibition, ‘SLEEPwalking’ — he’ll be hosting an artist talk there from 4pm on Saturday.

Milford Galleries will be showcasing its new exhibition, ‘Kaitiaki’ by Neil Adcock, which uses pounamu as a medium and offers a symbolic
alteration of the traditional tiki form, while multimedia artist Max Patte will have his contemporary light art on display at Lightworx, and Romer Gallery’s displaying Stephan Romers landscapes.

First Thursdays runs from 5pm till 7pm — for more information and maps, see First Thursdays on Facebook or Instagram.
