Queenstown’s inaugural youth market’s coming with an added bonus.

Being held this month, the market — setting up at Frankton’s Red Oaks Drive — will help support MyFundAction Centre (MYDC), a non-profit organisation which helps Queenstown’s Islamic community.

Running from 10am till 2pm on Saturday, June 22, all stalls will be run by under-35s — there’s no cost for anyone wanting to run a stall, however they have to agree to contribute 15% of all revenue from the day to MYDC.

Its coordinator, Catherine Doye, says the money will be in vested back into MYDC youth development and initiatives.

She’s hoping the youth market will continue to evolve — they’re planning on making it a monthly event and, in time, fundraise for specific projects, such as building water wells in Africa.

‘‘A youth market hasn’t been done before, and we felt that it would be a great addition to the Queenstown event calendar for both the public and the youths interested in business.’’

Stalls will include second-hand clothing and handmade gifts while MYDC’s on-site Komunal Cafe will be open during the market serving traditional Malaysian food.
