Mega-fundraiser for cyclone relief

It’s taken some hard mahi and a little bit of ‘chaos’, but Queenstown’s club collab cyclone fundraiser this Sunday is just about ready to
go.

Organised by the local Lions and Rotary clubs and Altrusa, the fundraiser is set to run from 11am till 3pm at the Events Centre and host a
range of stalls, games, and food.

Lions Club president Michael White says there’ll be 18 stalls, including Queenstown Football Club’s ‘beat the goalkeeper’ competition, for ‘‘any budding Ronaldo out there’’, while entertainment includes local muso Brett Walker and the Wonky Donkey author and singer, Craig Smith.

There’s also a silent auction running with plenty of goods donated by businesses and artists — though White says more donations are welcome — with games and races for all ages planned, including gumboot-throwing, along with sausage sizzles, barbecues, Mr Whippy and more.

The event will have Eftpos machines and concession-like tickets will be available so people can try out plenty of stalls without having to use cash, White says.
