Get sussed for ski season

This year, particularly, it’s a perfectly-timed sale.

As Coronet Peak and The Remarkables welcomed about 20cm of white gold over the weekend, Whakatipu Ski Club volunteers were already gearing up for the club’s annual sale, happening tomorrow.

The sale, going for more than 30 years, sees about 2000 items up for grabs, including second-hand skis, snowboards and snowgear, ex-demo and ex-rental stock, and packages put together by local stores.

Queenstown’s council will also be on hand to provide tips around winter road safety, with NZSki staff from Coronet and The Remarks available to answer questions.

The sale’s the biggest fundraiser of the year for the club — proceeds help maintain its hut at Coronet, which provides a kitchen, lounge and remote working facilities for members.

Anyone can list items for sale, via, at a cost of $4 per item.

Pre-registered gear can be dropped off at the Queenstown Events Centre today, between 5pm and 6pm — successful sellers will be direct credited in the second week of June, with a 20% commission deducted from all payments.

For those hoping to grab a bargain, there’s a $2 entry fee — doors to the Events Centre open at 10am tomorrow and close at noon.
