Queenstown celebrity chef Vaughan Mabee’s treating 20 people to a one-of-a-kind dining experience in January.
Mabee, a MasterChef New Zealand judge, NZ’s 2020 Chef of the Year, Best Chef Awards nominee, and culinary leader of Amisfield — named Restaurant of the Year for the past two years — is one of four leading local chefs hosting an exclusive brunch as part of next year’s inaugural
Roam Central wine and food event, running from January 26 to 29, organised by the Central Otago Winegrowers’ Association.
On January 29, ‘Roam the Vines’ will see Mabee serve brunch among the vines at Amisfield, while Artisan Catering chef John Pickens is hosting a similar event at Mora Wines vineyard, below Vale, behind Cromwell’s Pisa Range.
Cromwell’s award-winning Fusee Rouge Cafe will team up with Te Kano Estate, and Gibbston’s Mt Rosa vineyard will be paired up with a still-to-be-confirmed culinary team.
Roam Central event manager Jo Brown says a winemaker will also join in on the fun at each location.
‘‘Roam Central is about providing experiences that are not accessed by the consumer any other days of the year, outside of this event — and Roam the Vines is certainly one not to be missed.
‘‘Guests will be treated to an enchanting experience with a combination of wine, food and location that has never been offered before.’’
