The Cancer Society’s taking fundraising to new heights.
For its ‘Jump for Cancer’ initiative, it’s inviting people to part with $1000, or more, to experience the thrill of both skydiving and contributing to a good cause.
NZONE Skydive Queenstown’s offering the jumps on May 28, although an alternative date can be arranged.
Taking one for the team, Cancer Society Otago/Southland chief executive Rachael Hart is taking the plunge.
Even though she’s terrified at the prospect, she feels it’s not as terrifying as being told you’ve got cancer.
‘‘Every day, 71 New Zealanders hear the words, ‘you have cancer’.
‘‘I am jumping for all those brave people that live with cancer every day.’’
Hart’s challenging businesses and individuals to join her ‘‘so we can all make a difference’’.
The money raised supports people with cancer and also programmes to help prevent cancer.
