Wakatipu High School Foundation, which helps resource Queenstown’s secondary school, received huge dollops of cash at a recent fundraiser.

Pictured from left, at Rata restaurant, are foundation chairman Wayne Foley, school principal Steve Hall and local Colliers International director Alastair Wood, whose firm confirmed a whopping $90,000 donation.

The real estate/property services company raised the money from its annual big bash for
high-net-worth clients — this year’s, at Glenorchy’s Blanket Bay, raised $211,000 which was also split amongst Cure Kids and Otago Hospice.

Colliers has now given the foundation $528,000 since its in ception in 2013 — about a quarter of what it’s raised altogether.

Aimed at helping Wakatipu High School deliver an outstanding education, the foundation  also administers the Awhi Fund to support students needing assistance for school activities or resources like uniforms and laptops.

Applications for that fund have tripled since Covid, outgoing foundation trustee Adrian Januszkiewicz says.

Meanwhile, lthe recent gala dinner, sponsored by Jarden, also raised a record $40,000 through an auction of 10 items conducted by local Colliers agent Brendan Quill.

‘‘It was a super- successful night,’’ Januszkiewicz says.
