Queenstowner Jan Timberlake is going full throttle to start up a new motorbike club in the resort.
A keen rider herself, Timberlake reckons organised get-togethers are long overdue.
She’s fixed up the first meeting for a proposed new Queenstown club – at Hamills Restaurant at Remarkables Park at 7.30pm on January 12. “It’s about time we had a proper organisation as there are a lot of nice bikes and enthusiastic riders here,” she says.
“It’ll be good to meet with like-minded people and get a few runs and events going.”
Timberlake has also set up a two-day biker rally at the Garston Hotel for the weekend of February 20-21 as a fundraiser for the Prostate Cancer Foundation charity.
There will be live music from John Moon and Queenstown covers band the GCs, plus competitions and prizes.
“There’s been fantastic interest from bikers all over the place,” says Timberlake.
“We’ve even had inquiries from Australia.”
