Going into a movie inspired by ‘Shaun of the Dead,’ I was worried that the Hollywood treatment would ruin the zom-com for me. However ‘Zombieland’ is completely original and has taken a relatively niche genre and made it into a potential blockbuster.

The story is of a guy who has managed to survive the rise of zombie’s by following a set of rules ranging from “Limber Up” to “Double Tap” (Shoot twice to make sure they’re really dead!) He’s quickly joined by a total bad-ass and two sisters travelling to California. Zombie killing ensues and a fun day out is had by all.

I was most impressed by the dialogue, the writers have comic timing worked out and the actors deliver it flawlessly. The special effects were not overdone or CGI’d to the point of ridiculous and as a whole, the movie was just the right length.

For me, it is truly hard to find anything I didn’t like about this movie. Zombieland is one of the best comedies this year and I will highly recommend it to pretty much anyone who listens!

Standout performance: Woody Harrelson as the total bad-ass Tallahassee.
