What a difference a week’s made to Queenstown-based alpine ski ace Ben Griffin.

Two Saturdays ago his face was a picture of frustration after being unable to finish the slalom at Coronet Peak, meaning he had crashed out of all three of his Winter Games events.

But seven days later on the same mountain, a broad smile is back on the 22-year old’s dial as he takes out the giant slalom title at the national champs.

His sizzling form continued on Monday when he did the double by also being crowned New Zealand men’s Super G champion at Mt Hutt.

“It was annoying not getting any results at the Winter Games because I knew I’d been skiing well but I felt confident things would come good again,” Griffin says.
