The laughs just keep on coming for Queenstown’s American Express Winter Festival next month.
Organisers of the festival, which features a sold-out New Zealand Comedy Gala night with six top comedians, have announced a second show.
Tickets for the original night on Tuesday, June 25, sold out within two days. After getting the okay from the comedians, a second night has been scheduled for Monday, June 24.
Both nights will feature the same line-up of comedy circuit and TV stars – Dai Henwood, Jeremy Corbett, Paul Ego, Urzila Carlson, Ewen Gilmour, and Brendhan Lovegrove as the MC.
“I’ve never been asked for ‘more’ before. It’s an odd feeling,” 7 Days host Corbett says.
“… a sense of pride mixed with the fear of having to work two days in a row. Not something any comedian should have to deal with.”
Festival manager Lisa Buckingham says: “We predicted it would be a sell-out but we’ve been overwhelmed by the sheer number of disappointed people who have got in touch with us after missing out on tickets.
“I have even been stopped on the street. I’m thrilled that we’ve been able to deliver a second show.”
Buckingham adds: “I’d advise people to get in quick again because I sense they’ll go quick.”
Ticket prices ($69), seating, timing and the line-up at Queenstown Memorial Centre are identical.
