The venue and date of the 2011 New Zealand Open Championship will be confirmed in the next few months.
New Zealand Golf admitted on the eve of yesterday’s third round of the NZ Open that it still has a way to go in considering all agreements, including the current sanctioning partnership.
A number of parties, including The Hills and Cape Kidnappers in the Hawkes Bay, have registered their interest in hosting the New Zealand Open Championship in 2011 and beyond.
“Before we can finalise the venue, we obviously have to work with our partners on the arrangements and date of the New Zealand Open,” said Richard Taylor, chairman of the New Zealand Open sub-committee and a director of New Zealand Golf.
New Zealand Golf and Tuohy Associates, organisers of the NZ Open at the Hills, recognised the success of the event in the past three years at The Hills.
“Michael Hill and his organisation have made an enormous contribution to the Open and The Hills has been a superb venue for what has been three extremely successful New Zealand Open Championships.”
