More creaking popstars are confirmed for this summer’s roster of concerts in and around Queenstown.
Today, it was confirmed UB40 will play at Waitiri Creek vineyard at Gibbston on January 15, with Jason Kerrison and Herbs as back-up.
That adds to last week’s announcement that Mick Hucknall’s band Simply Red will play Queenstown Events Centre on March 4.
UB40 promoter Jackie Sanders says in a statement: “We could not miss Otago out of a Red Red Wine Tour.”
The band will feature the original members Ali Campbell, Astro and Mickey Virtue.
Tickets to the general public, starting at $99, go on sale on Thursday.
Simply Red, who last toured NZ in October 2010, are touring to support their new album, Big Love.
Tickets to their concert go on sale at midday on Monday.
Not that it’s a competition, but Simply Red’s sold more than 60 million worldwide – while UB40 say they’ve had more than 70 million sales.
In June, the for the January 23 Gibbston Valley Winery concert were announced – Huey Lewis and the News, Melissa Etheridge and REO Speedwagon.
