Queenstown’s Gay Ski Week goes big for closing night

Roll up! Roll up!

Queenstown Gay Ski Week QT wraps up a week of decadence and debauchery on Saturday night with a circus-themed extravaganza.

Sydney house DJs Kate Monroe and Adam Love are behind the decks for the ‘Oh What A Circus!’ night at Queenstown Memorial Centre.

DJ, producer and re-mixer Love is a Gay Ski Week favourite – headlining for five years in a row. A 10-year veteran of the house scene, he’s known for irresistible grooves and uplifting bass lines – spanning everything from anthems and big room house to indie dance.

Love’s opened for the likes of Lady Gaga and Shapeshifter, along with hitting the main room at Sydney Mardi Gras in 2013.

Monroe also has a decade in the DJ box, playing every major club in Australia along with globetrotting everywhere from Hong Kong to the US.

And like Love, her name is also synonymous with big party nights such as Mardi Gras, Sleaze Ball, and Ministry of Sound.

Gay Ski Week organiser Sally Whitewoods says: “We’re going bigger this year.

“Opening night sold out and hopefully we’ll get 450-500 down to the Memorial Hall for this.

“Not everyone goes fancy dress, but by what I’ve heard about people’s outfits, there’ll be quite a few.

“Adam and Kate are friends, both house DJs, so I’m sure they’ll be speaking to each other about the best music for the night.

“Expect lots of colour, lots of fun, and awesome lighting and sound.”

Whitewoods says tickets for this closing party are expected to sell out early, and they’ll likely keep only a handful back for door sales.

And as the flyer says: “The theme is circus so will you be a strong man, lion or ring master?”

Belvedere Presents … Oh, What A Circus! at Queenstown Memorial Centre, this Saturday, from 9pm-2.30am. Tickets $50.
