Queenstown twin sisters were among the young hopefuls who took their shot at stardom on Saturday.
Sahara and Georgie McDonald, 18, auditioned for TV talent contest The X Factor at the Performing Arts Centre in Queenstown.
More than 100 would-be stars lined up to showcase their singing and star quality for producers.
The popular TV3 show, based on an elimination format, is holding pre-audition auditions across New Zealand – with the most talented set to go before the judges later this year.
Sahara and Georgie sing together as Oracle.
Sahara says: “We have always watched The X Factor on TV and thought we could give it a go.”
The girls performed renditions of Lady Gaga’s Poker Face and Fun’s We are Young.
Georgie says: “We think putting our own spin on popular song shows variation and originality.”
Little brother Elijah, 11, went along to support his sisters but was too young to audition despite being another starlet from the musical Queenstown family. Soloists and groups over 14 years old were allowed to perform.
TV3 publicist Rose Swale says the producers were “absolutely rapt” with the turn out and how the auditions went.
